Do you ever think about what heaven might be like? Will there be peace? Yes, it will be the best kind of peace. Will there be joy? Yes, all of it. Will we see Jesus face to face? Of course, heaven would not be heaven otherwise. But there is something else for which Psalm 133 is a foretaste.

"Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!" One of the first things sin did was to cause a breach between people. Sin drove a wedge between Adam and Eve, between Abel and Cain, and between family, friends, neighbors, and strangers. There is not one human relationship that has not suffered the fracturing effect of sin. But when God's kingdom comes and his conquest over darkness is complete, brothers (and sisters) will dwell in unity. Indeed, heaven is not a solitary experience. Not even the reunion with our departed loved ones is enough. The glory of heaven is that every redeemed saint will love and be loved to the fullest.

David experienced the glory of heaven as a fleeting experience in his lifetime. It was only a glimpse. But it was enough to fill his heart with praise. We also experience it in the life of the church. God's grace has made strangers into friends, indeed, brothers and sisters. We confess the same faith and worship the Lord together. Thus every Lord's Day, for those who have the eyes to see it, the glories of heaven dawns on us and we glimpse heaven.
