We recently read the book "Rediscover Church," which has taught us to think more deeply about God's gift of the church. We encourage you read this related post, "Building a Godly Community (Membership Class #5)" which is a summary of the fourth session of our membership class.

We invite you to join us for "12 for 22." Our aim is to read 12 great books for the year 2022. Whether you read all 12 or just one, you will find it well worth your effort. Please see the list here.

For the month of June we are reading “A Small Book for the Anxious Heart: Meditations on Fear, Worry, and Trust” by Edward T. Welch.

June 12 (Lord's Day): Please join us for our monthly fellowship meal after the worship service.

June 13–16: Our junior high and high school students will be attending the South West Reformed Youth Camp at Pine Summit Christian Camp in Big Bear. Please pray for God’s Blessings upon them.

Thank you for your continued support of Grace Fallbrook (PCA). Your loving support makes the proclamation of the gospel and the building up of the saints possible. Please continue to mail in your gifts and offerings to our church treasurer, Bruce Summers. In addition, our church website now features online giving. Please visit the church website and click on "Give" which you will find in the upper left corner of our church's website. When you click on "Give Online Now" button on that page, you will be directed to the PCA Foundation where you can give towards Grace Fallbrook (PCA).

Before We Worship

Does grace nullify works? Yes, and, no. Yes, grace and works are incompatible as means of obtaining salvation. Salvation by grace alone completely rules out any notion of earning salvation, whether in whole or in part, by the works we perform. We cannot come to God saying at the same time "I have nothing to offer you so I hope in your undeserved mercy" and "Please give me some credit for what I have done and count them toward my salvation." Salvation is only by grace, and there is no space for insisting that salvation is in any way contingent upon what we do.

However, grace and words are compatible as the evidence of genuine faith. Faith that saves is a living faith, and living faith bears fruit of obedience. Thus our obedience to God is not the seed from which salvation blossoms. Our obedience, rather, is the beautiful life that grows out of grace's roots. We invite you to read more about this important subject from the Shorter Catechism Q. 39.
