This Lord's Day we welcome a new year. The turning of the calendar reminds us life does not stand still. Every day we are taking steps that either draw us closer to our eternal glory, or to eternal sorrow. Eternity before us imbues into every ticking second a sacredness that hallows it. But each sacred second, if profaned, will be called upon as witness against us. Surely, we need to pray with Moses, "So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom." Indeed. We must pray.
