Before We Worship
Christians often debate about who is entitled to receive the sacrament of baptism. But that is just the issue! When we think of the sacraments in terms of entitlement, our discussion will naturally take us down the path of trying to decide who deserves it. But what if the sacraments are not our entitlements but God's gifts? The question then becomes not so much who has earned the right, but becomes very much about the heart of the Giver and his design. We encourage you to read this week's Shorter Catechism lesson as a helpful resource to understand baptism as God's gift.
Online Resource
October 31 is Reformation Day. It is an important reminder that the doctrine of justification, that is, how a sinner receives pardon and sonship from the holy God, can be easily lost. We encourage you watch this very helpful presentation of Justification by Faith Alone by R. C. Sproul.
