Call to Worship

‡ "Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth." (Psalm 124:8)

Trinity Hymnal #274. Thine Be the Glory

‡ Trinity Hymnal #731 "Doxology"

Praise God from whom all blessings flow;

Praise him, all creatures here blow;

Praise him above, ye heav'nly host:

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Prayer of Invocation

The Reading and Exposition of the Law

"He will render to each one according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury. There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek, but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek. For God shows no partiality." (Romans 2:6–11)

Prayer of Confession

The Proclamation of the Gospel

"For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life." (Romans 5:6–10)
